I served with the Welsh Guards band as a Bassoonist and participated in the trooping of the colour ceremony, this was regarded as a great honour. I left the army in 1972 to pursue a career as a photographer but kept in contact with the band. I was commissioned by the Observer newspaper to supply a feature for their colour supplement with a series of photographs showing the rehearsals and final trooping of the colour. Shot on Ektachrome slide film with a Nikon F2 and a range of lenses from 24 to 600mm
