Installing the printers As with most printers today, the installation is a simple process. Make sure the printer is turned Off and connect the printer USB cable. The i990 has two USB ports, one for Full speed USB 2.0 (use this connection for Macs) and the other for Hi-Speed USB 2.0. The i9950 has three ports; Full speed USB 2.0, Hi-Speed USB 2.0 and Firewire. Both the i990 and the i9950 drivers occupy 50mb, of hard disk space and 15mb for the on-line manual. An animated Wizard walks you through each stage. The installation took approx three minutes. Once installed you are prompted to perform a Head Alignment . This involves using a few sheets of plain paper, a pattern is printed and you have to look at the patches in each column and enter the value of the swatch which doesn't have any flaws. On the i9950 the "0" setting was constant for each column, the i990 required two columns to be changed to +1. Once you have pressed the OK button the printer prints out another sheet, this is automatically scanned within the printer and no more user intervention is required. Printing out the first head alignment sheet took 2 minutes 11 seconds. The second alignment took approx 1min 15 seconds. Done!
No problems were encountered during the driver installation, I have not installed the other software as yet. The Windows software includes; ZoomBrowser, PhotoRecord, Easy PhotoPrint, Easy WebPrint, Easy PhotoPrint Plus and CD LabelPrint (for i9950). For Macs there are just two applications, Easy PhotoPrint and Easy PhotoPrintPlus (and CD LabelPrint for the i9950). The next page will be the first print samples. © Vincent Oliver 2004 www.photo-i.co.uk Please use the Forum to post your questions and views. click to Shop at the photo-i shop |
